WHAT IS THE DESIGN PROCESS?

Cakes are designed using inspiration based on your own style and your event such as materials, invitations, colour schemes etc. so that it is special and unique to your event. If you have a cake that you would like us to replicate we can use it as inspiration within the design process or permission is needed from original designer. We ask that others respect copyright of our original designs.

HOW MUCH NOTICE IS NEEDED?

Wedding cake orders are usually placed 6-3 months before the event. Other occasion cakes are ordered 8-6 weeks at a minimum before the event but you're welcome to book up to 1 week before, but as always first in first served so remember to get in quick to avoid disappointment.

 

50% deposit is required to lock in your order, and the remainder is required to be paid at the latest 1 week before the event. 2 weeks before the event our cut-off for designs, so please have them organised and deposits paid, if your deposit isn’t paid by that date we reserve the right to cancel your order.

Any quotes given are only valid for 1 month. Invoices without their deposit paid after 1 month of issuance may be deemed void with a new quote/invoice needed to proceed.

HOW MUCH WILL MY CAKE COST?

The cost for cakes can differ depending on the size, design and degree of difficulty. If you have a budget please advise us so we can make sure we stay within that amount when starting the design process.

DO YOU DELIVER?

Deliveries are available for your cake including set it up if required, but will this incur additional costs. This is based on the distance and time to get to the venue (Victoria only). Melbourne Cake Studio cannot be responsible for any damage that incurs after delivery and set up of the cake. Venues need to be informed they must accept responsibility of the cake once delivered.

HOW DO I TRANSPORT AND STORE MY CAKE ONCE I HAVE COLLECTED IT?

It is of course fine to pick up your cake but we ask that you adhere to some strict instructions. Cakes are very fragile pieces of artwork so we always encourage extreme care and handling. It Should be placed on a completely flat surface such as the floor of the passenger seat or in the boot of the vehicle, preferable an empty boot. While we will try help you regarding transportation Melbourne Cake Studio is not responsible for any damage that incurs after collection.


Storage of rolled fondant cakes are to be kept out of the refrigerator in a cool dry place until the event, other cakes are to be stored in the refrigerator. More details will be provided upon pick up.

WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?

Once your designs is finalised and the deposit paid, we will do our best to accommodate slight design/ cake changes where possible. You will still be responsible for paying for any extra time to change work.


If you cancel your order your deposit will not be refunded. At the discretion of management and dependent on the circumstances. A credit note may be issued less an admin fee equal to 20% of the total cost of the order. Please be mindful that due to the nature of this business once a deposit is made no matter how far in advance, we will have started purchasing items and started preparing sugar work.


If you cancel your order within 14 days of the delivery or collection date there will be no credit issued and any balances outstanding will be due.


Please note that any credit notes issued are done so as a good will gesture and at the discretion of management.
